Drury Communities

I don't know how things went down in other buildings on campus yesterday when Drury went on lockdown as a result of what turned out to be a false alarm at Cox North, but I was extremely impressed with the speed of communication that originated in the security office.

I know there's already a thread about Drury's Security team, but I really think that the security we have on campus probably far surpasses many other college & university campuses. The credit goes to a large team of people around Drury, but I've really been impressed with the level of communication since Sarene Deeds has taken over as director. Being "in the know" is a big part of being vigilant and aware of what's going on, and Sarene and her team of officers do a really great job of keeping the entire Drury community abreast of what's going on. And personally, I'm glad to be on a campus where our security professionals are willing to err on the side of caution when it comes to safety.

Fortunately, Monday's scare was just that. But it proved to be a valuable - albeit unsettling - look at where our strengths are and where we can improve in the case that a similar situation presents itself on or around campus. Great job, guys!

What was the lockdown even about? The situation was never really explained to me.
